When you think about information products, most likely the first thing to come to mind is an eBook. EBooks are great for people on the go and who have busy schedules. With an ever-growing popularity in digital readers, it?s no wonder selling eBooks is a great business to get into. But did you know there are many more formats of information products you can create to boost your business? Let?s take a look at a few.

ECourses

While typically having the same information as an eBook, an eCourse holds higher perceived value. ECourses tend to consist of a main guide or series of small guides as well as supplemental material such as audios, video, worksheets and more. Instead of writing a 60-page eBook that people may lose interest in, create an interactive eCourse and see how much bigger your profits can be.

Video Courses

Pre-recorded video courses allow you to connect with your customers on a more personal basis. Whether the video is of you personally demonstrating how to do something or simply your voice walking viewers through a recording of your desktop as you present the information, when customers can see and hear you, they will feel confident in buying from you.

But not all video courses have to have your face and voice. They can simply be PowerPoint presentations or other types of slideshows where the information is presented. When creating video courses, it?s important to also provide transcripts of the videos as well as any other resources that customers may need.

Live Online Classes

Creating series of classes is also a great way to share information. Participants meet at a pre-scheduled time and place to go over the material and interact with the speaker and other participants.

You might choose to hold a teleseminar where participants listen in by computer or phone while you present the information. At the end, you can make time for a Q&A session. These are a great way to include guest speakers without a lot of extra work.
Live classes can also be created in the form of a webinar where participants connect through audio and can also see video. As the presenter, you would share live feed of the information you?re presenting. This might be live feeds from a computer camera or even screen recordings of what?s happening on your computer.

Online Learning Communities

If you plan to offer a long-term access or continual lessons, you might consider developing an online learning community. This includes private access to a website where the course material is held for the student. These types of information products typically include a combination of instructional videos, transcripts, supplemental material and a place to submit questions. They are a great way for you to interact with students and because of the interaction; they tend to have a higher perceived value than eBooks.

Hard Copy Products

Although not as popular these days, you can still create high-end print information products. Offering a hard copy of digital information products not only allows you to reach a bigger market ? even if nobody ever takes advantage of it, just having a hard copy available can greatly increase the perceived value of the product.

Whether you create the products yourself or outsource the entire process, selling information online is a lucrative business to be in. The best part is that you don?t have to choose just one format.
